Justin Ieronimo | PhD Candidate, BAppSc (Hons)

Finding a passion for fitness at an early age Justin grew up competing as a triathlete and cyclist an elite level. Continuing to pursue a passion for sport, Justin completed a Bachelor of exercise and sports science at Deakin University, followed by Honours at Victoria University. His honours research focussed on improving racquet speed for tennis players with different warm up strategies, with his research being presented at an international conference in 2017. During this period he worked as a strength and conditioning coach for Port Melbourne VFL, Melbourne Vicentre swimming club and at Xavier college. 

A strong interest in sports science research, developed during his Honours year, lead him to accepted a position at Victoria University to complete a PhD in 2018. Justin’s research focuses on exploring lower-limb asymmetries in gym-based and running tasks. Throughout his PhD studies Justin has worked closely with the Victorian Institute of Sport and completed traineeships in both Biomechanics and Strength and conditioning, working closely with the swimming and athletics programs. He continues to work with the VIS providing biomechanics analysis and research assistance.
